Support
I would like to thank the Samaritans Charity for all there continued support through out my illness without them I would not have become the person I am today, I strongly recommend them to anyone who feels they need someone to turn to! Visit: www.samaritans.org for further details, Believe me turning my life around has not been easy! I have had to face many fears in order to get through it and have done some things I would never have dreamed I could do.
With this illness no amount of reassurance could help me, at the time I just found it frustrating as all I wanted was for someone to listen to how I felt, its like having a huge boil in the middle of your forehead which is obviously there but everyone around you is just telling you that you are imagining things, which in effect for me made me feel I was going crazy, so not only did I hate myself on the outside I hated who I had become, and most of all I hated being so self obsessed!, it was not easy for those around me and the Samaritans allowed me to talk without feeling as though I was burdening them with my problems.
The Samaritans where responsible for helping me release my inner feelings, I used to release the pain by self-harming! But eventually due to them I managed to stop this and found a much healthier way of letting out the pain within, which contributed greatly to my recovery with BDD.
