10. You also have a book out could you give me a brief overview of what it’s about and why you chose to write it?
When I was unwell, one of my ultimate goals became to learn how to lead a happy and fulfilled life with BDD, then once I had mastered this I wanted to use my achievements to help show other suffers how they can follow me on my journey to recovery!.
Obviously im not saying that every sufferer should become a Miss England contestant! I am saying they should follow what ever opportunities come there way, face their fears and take control of the illness, my book follows my Journey from beginning to end, it shows patterns within my life that I did not realize until writing the book may have contributed to my illness, things that I was un aware of, other sufferers may be able to relate to those various “circumstances” or situations within their own lives and it may also help the people around them to learn how to understand and attend to their disorder .
The book then goes on to show how I have learnt to live with BDD and how I am making the most of my life!
I feel that sometimes those of us who have had these hurdles to overcome, often come out stronger than we would have been without them, it was difficult having to be so open about my life within the book, but I hope that by doing so I may be able to help others who are suffering from similar experiences, such as BDD, OCD, Eating disorders and alike, if I can help even one person by sharing my life with this illness, then to me it almost makes all the suffering worthwhile.
In life everything happens for a reason, I feel that perhaps it now makes sense as to why I am here, a question I often asked myself when I was ill, I am here to show others that with self belief and determination anything is achievable, and I am just grateful I am still here today to tell my story |
